I am off to Bedford tomorrow to Lin who some of you know. After seven happy years on her boat she will be moving onto another one in the next couple of weeks. The old boat had started to rot in parts so it is necessary. She has bought a sports cruiser no less! It is mobile unlike the old boat and would go fast enough to water ski behind. So I hope the usual fun packed week end will ensue. Some river kayaking is on the cards and no doubt the usual wildlife watching. There is a lot of that right on her "doorstep"
The Pirate flag is still flying proudly! She is still on the old boat at present as she is waiting the boat safety inspectors return visit to issue the necessary certificate. She will loose a bit of onboard space but get a sound boat that will cruise if wanted. There is also a large covered by a folding awning rear deck so sitting on deck with drinkies will now be possible. Just like the Toffs in the south of France! Any way the week end. We did not do a lot....just chilled big time. I needed that. We sat on the pontoon with Procecco and fed the Ducks, Goslings and swans in the evening and it was idyllic. I had bought an inflatable kyak last year for our holiday with friends but the peeps at the watersport lake we camped near would not allow us to use it there....so I took it along for its first outing. We took a cool evening paddle along the river and back. ( the pull of the Procecco had got us by then!) Next day we paddled round the marina visiting boats to say hello from the water. Loads of fun. The banana as it got named was well admired. We got wet arses but who cares. Getting out again on to the pontoon was comical as when you got your feet beneath you it tended to "fold" a little in the middle! Nothing dangerous but it did make you wonder if you might get a swim as well....
A great fun week end. Lin sends her love to all who know her here. She uses an Ayepad being a pirate. For some reason Apple made her sign up to an app to come here and it would not work so we are sadly without her here.
This is more compact! But it is cool. It is named Blue Nile. And the best news is that Lin got it for a much reduced price! She is having a new awning made for the coming winter. She is so thrilled with it at it will be the first home she will have bought all by herself. that is super exciting for her.
I shall be visiting Lin and the boat this weekend. Her wonderful man Mark is having his new boat. A 60ft broad beam barge launched then. I say launched it will be craned into the water. All very exciting as it weighs tons. What could possibly go wrong..... We shall be drinking fizzy pop to bring the boat good Karma.
Well had an ace weekend as usual with Lin. Lots of laughs and good grub and drink. Weather was pretty good. New boat very comfy. I slept so well. We went to the Shuttleworth collection on the Saturday to allow me to do some thigh rubbing at the Spitfires and other wonderful aircraft on display. There is also a superb landscaped garden to visit there which we spent a pleasant hour strolling around. The crane that was however due to arrive to put her boyfriends boat down gently on the surface of the marina did not arrive. Not sure why but it will be along in a few weeks I am told. So we drank one bottle of bubbly and the other one is there ready for the momentous day. I would have liked to have seen it but it was not to be.
