cat update. she seems to be fine. checkout last week, her blood pressure is still high, so they have doubled her blood pressure medicine. she seemed slightly less stressed about going to the vets- she only peed in my car rather than peed and shit, and upon return, she came out from hiding under the bed a bit quicker. no more funny business. the weird eye has been clearing daily, and is almost clear.
the blood pressure thing is usually a sign of kidney trouble and the such in cats, but those tests were fine, so she might be pre-problems.
middle age. i know just how you feel cat. so fingers crossed.

Kidney problems in cats? It's like the back legs of dogs...never a good sign.
Our ginger awesome, who is now under a cherry tree going in to full leafy Spring overdrive, was 'tested' as he went for a tooth clean three weeks ago. "You'll need THESE meds (£42 per month) and THIS food (£3 a day) 'cos of his kidneys". He came back with sweet breath, clean teeth, and a feck-it-I've-had-enough heart. Poor fella. Still, fourteen years on three legs was enough. A mass of arthritis and simply worn out.
do the other cats miss him or has a whole new status dynamic opened up?
It's like the back legs of dogs.
i saw a doggy with a trolley for back legs the other week. he had legs, they were on a sling between the wheels. dog didn't seem to care...oh this pile of peoples bags i would normally walk through, i'll just ride over then with my bionic wheels!

The dynamic's changed quite a bit. The tough grey 'un is now fairly blind, and has given up the top slot. His ginger buddy has died, so The Area is now regularly patrolled by the monochromatic moggy, while stripy ex-kitten now gets full catflap rights during hours of daylight. Three is good. It's practical, in terms of being able to work out who's where and which to blame.
Met my cousins new cat today. Well I say I met as she is so shy poor thing we got within twenty feet of each other and she sat and gave me a good looking over. She is so shy even my cuz has to be quiet and move slowly around her. She is improving gradually though so all good.
Back to the vets for another check up. this is not cheap! bp still high but in some ways its good we know now, as treatment could hold potential problems at bay. cat is most unimpressed by this repeated sending to the vets. she has to sty there all day so they take bp at multiple times. she knows somethings up because i'm up early and thats very suspicious. best hide just in case.
