Hate to complain whilst you lot in Jolly Old are getting cool wet weather but the 30c sunny days we are getting are beating me (and our flower garden) down. Forecast to 'cool off' to 26 - 28 after today....
After a long dry spell and with temperatures around 30c the severe thunderstorm warning issued yesterday afternoon was actually welcome, we really need a good soaking. But it was not to be, heavy rain nearby and across many places in SW Ontario, even some large hail just up the road. What did we get 1.8mm, less than 1/10 of an inch!! To add insult to injury the forcast says back to above 30c by Wed / Thur after a brief respite today with a high of around 22c. Bet you did not know Canada has moved to the tropics eh
Right toasty again today! Heat Warning in effect for: Southern Grey County Northern Grey County Southern Bruce County Humidex values reaching near 40 are expected. Hot weather is moving into the regions today bringing maximum temperatures in the low thirties and humidex values in the mid to high thirties. Lows tonight will range from 20 to 22.
Wednesday will again see maximum temperatures in the low thirties. However, humidity levels will increase tomorrow bringing humidex values to near 40. Lows Wednesday night will range from 20 to 23 degrees, followed by maximum temperatures Thursday from 29 to 33 degrees. It will remain very humid. Shower or thunderstorm activity could bring relief at times to some places.
Finally got some rain last night, 2 1/2 inches worth during an intense thunderstorm, temps are down a little from the 30c its been of late but humidity way up so does not help much. Was waiting for rain to move a couple of plants but when digging them up found out that all that rain only penetrated about an inch as we were so dry prior to it.
"A heat episode is expected today and Friday for most regions in Southern Ontario. Daytime temperatures will reach the low thirties with afternoon humidex values in the mid to upper thirties." Wheeew, there seems to be no end to it, after three months of record breaking temps and extremely low rainfall it looks like August is going to continue in the same pattern. Dont worry though I will be bitching about the cold & snow in a few months...... or will I?
Rain .....RAIN, we finally got some rain. Off and on moderate rainfall much of the day yesterday, about an inch total which will save not only my remaining grass that is not already dead but also many of the farmers crops that are hurting. May even be able to cut the weed tops on what was a lawn of sorts without leaving crispy brown tracks behind! Tornado and sever storm warning out all day but thankfully we saw non of that although some trees down and roofs damaged down Toronto way. Temps down 10 degrees to around 25c !!
More much needed rain today, over 2" in abt 4 hours, some minor flooding in town but we out here in the country are not complaining. This should save a lot of stressed crops that were not looking good, I even have some trees here whose leaves are brown and may well not come back next year.
