I am most likely quite mad.....but. Every winter when it gets nice and frosty I want to go camping. Confused....you up for it? Maybe I will put the tent up in the garden and give it a go. But then.....
I kinda know what you mean. I'm not a practically outdoorsy person but I feel so cooped up in winter. i'm seeing maybe a hour of daylight this time of year, and I really relish the mere ten minutes walk to work. today was the first day I thought I too wet to go across the school field and down the lane, which is so nice even this time of year. so I went round, down the main road, but even that is kicking through wet leaves.
a cold, sunny, frosty morning is so good. haven't seen many of them yet. not been that cold really.
i'm not sure I fancy tent camping this time of year, but imagine a lovely site in the woods. cosy cabins or shepards huts or something with little log stoves for heating (or lets be honest maybe actual electricity heating too). and hot water bottles. lots of hot water bottles. and an outdoor but sheltered communal space with fire pit, and cosy blankets for nightime, frosty, star-sprinkled sky watching. and in the daytimes, walking through the barren woods, or lounging in the heating spa pool.
every other Saturday I have to get up stupidly early for work. this Saturday just gone was full on proper nighttime dark still. the stars were sparkling, the hard frost was sparkling on the ground and there was a thin sliver of a moon (what I've always called a 'nail-moon'), low in the sky, but the light was such you could see the shape of the whole moon. it was like from a painting or something.
I may not have seen any day light at all that day but it was such a pretty, wintery scene so early.
