I have a couple of financial things to sort out. not involving huge sums but still gotta be done.
having tried every which way on one site which I finally managed to create a log in for and await an 'authentication code' by post. it arrives...and log in says no. can't even get to authentication page ffs.
so in the end, having had much grief with trying to deal with things on the phone before I thought fuck it i'm writing to them the old fashioned way.
but who writes letters any more! i'm staring at the screen thinking, shit, what format do you use for letters?
having created my brief to the point olde worlde letter, to the printer. but I rarely print stuff at home, because why would I? the wifi on the printer never worked so cable it is. printed it says. stares at empty print tray. nope. you know what it was. the cable didn't like that laptop socket it wanted another.
oh but wait, whats this shitty printing? I can't send that. I guess I should stir the ink or some other technobabble. half a frickin hour later of messing about I finally get something resembling a using letter. not very professional looking but readable. and envelope!
meanwhile blue ink suddenly starts saying 'low' but I didn't use blue! not even in the testing. and cos its a cheap ole printer it won't print nowt if all the colours aren't working. fuck you technology.
i'm going back to quill and parchment.
meanwhile the other thing. was told at my bank I needed to phone. ok. phoned. very helpful no probs no even on hold. great. solution, go to the webshite and complete form on line. which I did and all is fine (I hope). but, the whole point of going to my bank and then phoning was to avoid using online cos IT'S PISSING ME OFF'. doh.
so my everlasting chives have died. I've had that plant for years. bulging out of a pot too small for them, hunkering down to died in winter, only to come back afresh in spring with no help from me. plus a good healthy colony of moss covering the soil too.
but now. bugs. fucking bugs.
sorry chives, into the brown bin you go.
also lost my potted ivy of easily 30 years vintage this year. sadface.
at least my succulents are living. mainly cos I leave them alone.
Here is a peeve although it was amusing. Went to stay with Lin on floaty boaty for a pirate weekend. We indulge ourselves in something to please the anoraks in us. This time we visited Twinwoods Museum just outside Bedford. On the site of a former WW11 training airfield. The control tower still stands and is now part of the museum along with a good few more of the old accommodation blocks and shelters and sheds . Lots to see for only a fiver with a cheap "NAFFI" for refreshment and souvenirs. It was the airfield where Glen Miller the band leader set off from on his last flight to France before disappearing without trace. However the fun part was finding the place... We used Google maps on our phones. Usually perfect in door to door nav. This time however...Lin very sensibly said it must be just off Twinwoods road somewhere. But we followed the twat nav thinking there may be another entry point. BIG mistake! After driving along normal but small road it morphed into gravel track. Sat nav said continue straight. After around a mile the track petered out in a farmyard signed PRIVATE! Fearing farmer Palmer and his double barrel we made a swift u turn and headed back the way we came with the twat nav telling us to turn around and go back the way we had come. So on reaching the junction where we had been told to turn left we realised there were three roads there so maybe we sould have taken the middle option. On trying that we found a similar thing road going to gravel track and this time becoming a golf course! We laughed. So we went back to the junction again and looked at each other and said no way to the third option. So back to the main road with twat nav woman telling us to uturn here there and everywhere. After a few minutes on the road Lin had first suggested before the sat nav interrupted we found it sign posted. We still found ourselves driving gravel track before it turned into cracked concrete road that was obviously old airfield perimiter track. Google maps were VERY wrong this time! We did have a jolly good laugh about it though. The museum is well worth seeking out if you are near though. Volunteer run. Welcoming and that includes the lovely standard poodle who was curled up in the control tower admission office. Lots to see for only a fiver! Go if you can.
Ahh yes, the faith folks put into the dreaded google map thingy, many storys over here from the U.S. of Eh of folks going where it says and being stuck in the back country miles from anywhere with no cell service or nearby help. Some folks even lost for days and lives lost, not so much of a danger over in Jolly Old I guess as less remote areas but here in a more populated part on Ontario a lady recently driving at night followed the G map down the boat ramp right into the lake....... wooops
I am an old fashioned kind of a guy and have a printed map with me when traveling and dont even have a data enabled cell phone...... some time old is better LOL
Thanks Confused, lets just say that whilst my daughter may be directionaly challenged I am motivationaly challenged, I do read the posts by our handful of members but have very little to say in return.
Cool kanuck. I figured now the snow has gone you just had much more interesting things to do😃
Further to my earlier peeve it turns out the library wifi kicks you off after 2 hours. I was in the middle of something!
So where else for free WiFi? Hmm if im gonna have to pay for a overpriced drink in a cafe in might as well stump up for extra data on me phone. So here I am. But I can't use my laptop which I need. Grr.

I have a peeve, it's lovely outside and I'm in a dingy office, not only that my colleagues insist on leaving the lights off/turned down low because they claim to be able to see better, I don't believe this is possible. :/
